How does the civil war in Libya relate to history?

I need to get a current event and relate it to history. I thought that maybe the civil war in libya would be a good current event I could use. But now I don't know what to relate it to......? We're studying the 19th century in my history class, so I was thinking maybe I can relate it to the revolutions that occurred in Latin America during that time. But how does the civil war in libya relate to that? I need help!!! >.<
