Do you get charged for at a hotel for their internet if your are tethering off your phone?

I am currently staying at the Hilton which charges for their Wifi. Stupid I know. Anyways, my friend has tether on his phone and e been using it to get on the internet through out laptops. Does anyone know if we will get charged by the time we get out?
