Wifi issue on my Dad's father's day present. Please help.?

For Father's day I got my dad an HP Mini 110 and it won't connect to my house's wireless internet network. I've had it wifi tethered to my phone for the last two days just so he can use it, so at least I know it will connect to the internet. I have my laptop on my home network, so I know it's fine. The netbook will see my home network, but whenever I try to connect it starts to connect and then it just stops and says that windows cannot connect. Any ideas on what to do?
