Even if your relationship is loveless, you are still in one and he'd feel weird "sharing you" so to speak. Could you go out with someone who is still committed (loveless or not) to someone else? Probably not...let sleeping dogs lie, telling him you like him will only make things more awkward. If it's meant to happen, he'll still be there come September when you're single.
